LONDON, UK (CWBN)_ Despite initial reports issued subsequent to the departure of PM Boris Johnson’s Director of Communication, Lee Cain, yesterday, Chief Adviser, Dominic Cummings is also expected to leave by Christmas. As in-fighting continues to mar Downing Street, in prior commentary, Cummings denied rumours about his resignation.

Both Cain and Cummings had been close colleagues under former PM Theresa May’s administration, where Cummings in particular played a significant role in masterminding the Brexit. While, Cummings is no stranger to serious in-fighting during the Brexit campaigns, he was appointed to play the functionary role of Chief of Staff at Downing Street under Johnson, in 2019.

Cummings has been a rather controversial figure during his career in the political arena. In early 2019, he was issued an admonishment for contempt of Parliament after he avoided inquiries made by the Digital, Culture, Media and Sports Committee concerning alleged misinformation campaigns run prior to the Brexit vote.

As the situation amongst leadership heats up, the British people have been left out to fend for themselves. Business closures, unemployment and debt have increased momentously, even though it was reported that there had been a reversal of recession during the 3rd quarter.

Nonetheless, given the new lockdown measures that have come into place for a second time this year, amidst rising Covid-19 infections and related deaths, the local economy is expected to take a worse hit in the coming days. Moreover, it leaves a considerable vacuum in the sphere of Johnson’s Brexit policies.
