Chennai, India (CWBN)_ The popular TV actress of Tamil Nadu, Chitra, was found dead inside a hotel room in Nazarathpet in the early hours of Wednesday. The 28-year-old popular TV actress, Chitra, allegedly killed herself at the hotel room. She is popular on Vijay TV for her major role in the serial ‘Pandian Stores’. Police reported that her husband was also present at the hotel during the time of her death and that he is also being questioned.

It was informed by the Nazarathpet police that Chitra was in a serial shooting at Nazarathpet’s EVP film town and returned to hotel at 1.30 am. She stayed in the room number 113. The police said that she had informed Hemnath that she was going to take a bath and that Hemnath waited outside the room. Hemnath told the police that he was waiting outside the room for a long time and also repeatedly knocked on the door. As there was no response for a long time, he asked the hotel staff to check. He was accompanied to the room by one of the staffs, Ganesh, where they found Chitra dead inside.

The police control room was immediately called by the hotel authorities, and the Nazarethpet police team hurried to the hotel. The case was registered and the Revenue Divisional Officer ordered for an investigation as she was married only two months ago. The police said that both Chitra and her husband Hemnath Ravi, who got married recently, were staying at the hotel.

Chitra’s father, Kamaraj, is a retired sub-inspector and he told the media that he did not suspect any wrongdoing in his daughter’s death and asked the police officers to investigate the death case fairly. Although there was no suicide note or any other evidence found in the room, Chitra’s phone was confiscated by the police to examine whether there was evidence to determine the cause of her death.

According to the report from Police, Chitra resided in Thiruvanmiyur with her parents, but she often stayed at the hotel close to the shooting area as it was comfortable for her to reach the shooting and also meet husband Hemnath. The police also reported that she was engaged to a Chennai-based businessman Hemnath in August and later they got married in the presence of their family members two months ago.

As an anchor for Makkal TV, Chitra began her career in 2013. She also worked as an anchor for Jaya TV and Zee Tamil. In Pandian Stores, a serial that began in 2018, she became famous for her character Mullai.
