Queen Camilla dazzles alongside Judi Dench and Garry Oldman in a star-studded event

UK Royals (Commonwealth Union)_Queen Camilla dazzled tonight alongside Dame Judi Dench and Garry Oldman in a star-studded event in London.

British acting royalty was joined by Queen Camilla at an event celebrating the works of William Shakespeare.

Queen Camilla mixed with famous actors, authors and directors faces like Dame Twiggy Lawson, 74 Dame Joanna Lumley, 77 and Brian Cox, 77 at Grosvenor House at an evening celebrating the work of William Shakespeare.

The Queen looked remarkable in an emerald, green velvet dress matched with suede boots and sparkling earrings.

At the event, Queen Camilla was handed gifts of Valentine’s Day jumpers with big, red hearts printed on them by host Gyles Brandreth.

King Charles who returned to Sandringham today following a 24-hour period in London is spending this special evening away from his wife, Queen Camilla.

The monarch is expected to return to London regularly for cancer treatment.

The official Twitter page of the Royal Family posted a series of pictures of Queen Camilla at tonight’s event with a brief explanation of the night stating that Queen Camilla was joined by some famous faces when she attended a celebration of Shakespeare,.

The event concluded with performances by Gary Oldman, Dame Judi Dench and Robert Lindsay.

Robert Lindsay, an English actor, said that Valentine’s Day was the ‘perfect day to celebrate the King’s love of Shakespeare, and indeed to celebrate the love between the King and the Queen.’

It is comprehended that the event was meant to be a joint event for King Charles and Queen Camilla, but as the King has postponed all public-facing duties in the wake of his cancer diagnosis he did not attend.

A statement from Buckingham Palace read that His Majesty had commenced a schedule of regular treatments today, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties, also stating that His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual throughout this period.

However, the Queen has been continuing her royal duties as her husband takes a step back and also toured an art studio today in west London.

During the tour, the Queen admired a painting of Princess Charlotte, and commented that it was “lovely.”

Queen Camilla was greeted by a host of actors who have played Hamlet over the years, including Brian Cox, Jeremy Irons and David Mitchell, and went on to meet a dozen dames, including Dame Vanessa Redgrave, Dame Judi Dench and Dame Twiggy Lawson.

Event host Gyles Brandreth presented Queen Camilla with two matching jumpers with a heart on them on Valentine’s Day, as a gift, and said he hoped they would keep the King and Queen “warm on those cold winter nights”.

Meanwhile, Robert Lindsay, who spoke before his performance of Cole Porter’s Brush Up Your Shakespeare said that Valentine’s Day was the perfect day to celebrate the King’s love of Shakespeare, and to celebrate the love between the King and the Queen.

Other attendees at the celebrity-filled event included Sir David Suchet, Charles Dance and Stephen Fry.

Their Majesties were understood to have been planning to attend the event, but following his cancer diagnosis, the King has postponed all public-facing duties.

Several guests signed a card and left messages of well-wishes to him.

The gathering was part of ongoing celebrations marking the passing of 400 years since Shakespeare’s first folio.

Buckingham Palace said: “As an avid reader, The Queen has a strong interest in highlighting the importance of literacy and has long been recognised as a supporter of literacy in the UK and internationally.

“As a grandmother, Her Majesty understands the joy of reading, but also, how literacy can create life opportunities.”
