Saskatoon SPCA introduces a foster cat program for employees

Canada_ (Commonwealth) _ The first company to utilize the program was Century 21 Fusion in Saskatoon, which took up an SPCA cat last week. Foster cat Misty is a wonderful addition to the company and has already reduced tension in the office, according to Jaimie Svennes, administrator of the Century 21 office. “Seeing the cat helps you relax. So as soon as you hear “here, kitten kitty,” you want to pet it “Added Svennes.

“It diverts your attention from whatever issues you might be having. Instead of getting irritated, you may then refocus.” The SPCA came up with the concept to ease stress on the shelter and to improve the chances of adoption, according to Madison Friesen, the organization’s coordinator for volunteers and foster care. She claimed that cats waiting to be adopted virtually always fill the shelter. The animals are removed from small kennels by this innovative program.

It also serves as an internal pest management method without the use of poisons or pesticides, she added. Three additional cats are slated to visit companies this week, according to Friesen, and more enquires about the initiative are coming in. She said that an office cat is beneficial for both feline and staff morale.

Friesen told Saskatoon Morning that it lessens stress and anxiety at work. The SPCA works with an office to ensure the animal is a good match for the culture and provides all supplies and medical treatment for foster cats. According to Friesen, bringing cats inside a workplace exposes them to a far wider range of possible pet owners.

Customers, employees, family members, and friends are all possible adopters since they have seen the cat and are aware of its nature. The SPCA requests that the choice to foster a cat be communicated to every employee in the office. Foster care facilities must describe their plans for taking care of the animal, including weekends, in the application.
