Sri Lanka (Commonwealth Union)_ Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan is expected to visit Sri Lanka this year to grace the highly anticipated grand inauguration of the City of Dreams Sri Lanka on August 2, 2025. However, they have yet to confirm any official information. But sources close to the organizers say Khan is set to preside over the inaugural ceremony for South Asia’s first fully integrated luxury resort. The project is a partnership between Sri Lanka’s John Keells Holdings PLC and global resort developer Melco Resorts & Entertainment.

Speculation about Khan’s visit has intensified recently, especially after teaser posts appeared on the official social media pages of City of Dreams Sri Lanka and Cinnamon Life. One post features a shadowy figure in a familiar pose, prompting fans to guess that the mystery guest is none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself. If the rumors are true, the event would be Khan’s first public appearance in Sri Lanka since 2004. His last visit was during the “Temptation 2004” concert in Colombo, which tragically ended when a grenade explosion in the VIP section killed two people and injured several others. Despite the incident, Khan and fellow performers, including Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta, were unharmed.

The City of Dreams Sri Lanka is a USD 1.2 billion initiative that seeks to redefine luxury and leisure in the area. The huge complex features a cutting-edge casino, the upmarket Nüwa Hotel, luxury shops, and world-class meeting and event facilities. It is currently the largest private investment in Sri Lanka’s lifestyle and hospitality sector. If Shah Rukh Khan attends the event, it will likely draw global media coverage and major celebrity attention.

Additionally, Khan’s likely comeback after almost twenty years showcases a fresh revival and a promising future for Sri Lanka’s goal to be a global tourism hub.
