USA (Commonwealth Union)_ The University of Silicon Andhra, a unique institution in the United States managed by Indian Americans, originally known for offering courses in Indian arts and languages, is now expanding its scope. The university is venturing into a new campus featuring a medical college, an international standard cricket stadium, and introducing courses in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

Anand Kuchibhotla, the president of the University of Silicon Andhra, shared in a recent interview that the institution, accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, has experienced significant growth. Initially, it catered mainly to students in the United States, but now it attracts students from India, Malaysia, South Africa, and Dubai. Currently based in Milpitas, California, the university offers six Master of Arts, five diplomas, and five certificate programs, serving a student population of 230, an impressive rise from the initial 44 students in 2017.

In an effort to expand its offerings, the University of Silicon Andhra is introducing courses in the Master of Science in Computer Science, focusing on Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. Additionally, plans are underway to launch an MD program in allopathic medicine. Kuchibhotla also revealed intentions to start a Raga therapy program or music therapy in Indian classical music, emphasizing evidence-based science through clinical trials.
Further, Kuchibhotla stated that a philanthropist has generously donated 67 acres of land in Silicon Valley for the expansion of the university. With the groundbreaking ceremony and holy land rituals completed, the university aims to develop a world-class campus over the next few years. The new campus is envisioned to house a medical college and the first-ever international standard cricket stadium within a US university.
The University of Silicon Andhra has also entered into a memorandum of understanding with several universities across India. To enhance students’ industry experience, the university has also designed a distinct program. Kuchibhotla asserted that the tuition fees, approximately $27,000 for an MS course, are among the lowest in the US, making quality education more accessible to a diverse student population.
