Singapore (Commonwealth Union)_ Singapore Airlines has begun operating Boeing B787-10 Dreamliners between Colombo and Singapore. The 68-meter-long B787-10 is the longest model of Boeing’s Dreamliner family. It is made of lightweight composite materials. Further, large, electrically dimmable windows, a low cabin altitude, ample headroom, and a smooth, silent flight will all contribute to a pleasant travel experience for passengers.

The B787-10 aircraft is ecologically friendly due to its reduced carbon footprint, superior operational efficiency, and cutting-edge technology. Additionally, the launch of a young fleet of aircraft of the latest generation underscores Singapore Airlines’ serious commitment to sustainability. The Boeing 787-10s of Singapore Airlines are outfitted with 337 seats in two classes, featuring 36 lie-flat seats in Business Class on a 1-2-1 seating configuration and 301 seats in Economy Class on a 3-3-3 seating configuration.

Compared to the previously flown Airbus A350, the Boeing B787-10 has 34 more seats and increased cargo capacity in order to promote tourism in Sri Lanka and make imports and exports easier. Further, Singapore Airlines has teamed with Sri Lankan Catering to provide a celebratory in-flight meal menu from 27 March 2023 to 30 June 2023 in honor of this occasion. Each meal choice in Business Class and Economy Class features only locally sourced foods. The menu includes suwandel rice grown organically with traditional rain-fed techniques in the southern lowlands, giant tiger prawns and seer fish fished in the Indian Ocean and seasoned with Ceylon spices, and organic veggies and cashew nuts served in fragrant and creamy Sri Lankan fashion.

Moreover, a protein-rich kurakkan (finger millet) bread roll will also be provided. The lunch will conclude with a native dessert, bibikkan or watalappam, made with coconut, kithul jaggery, and a blend of spices from Sri Lanka. For the past 53 years, Singapore Airlines (SIA) has been operating flights to and from Sri Lanka. SIA flies four weekly flights between Colombo and Singapore on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, offering connection to the globe via the Singapore hub.
