Sri Lankan charity founder wins Commonwealth Points of Light award

KANDY, Sri Lanka (CU)_The Points of Light awards are aimed at recognising outstanding volunteers whose service is making a difference in their communities. It was first established by US President George H. W. Bush in 1990, while the UK Points of Light was developed in 2014, in partnership with the US programme. The awards are an expression of gratitude by Her Majesty the Queen, towards volunteers across the 54 Commonwealth nations, recognising one volunteer from each Commonwealth member state every week.
