INDIA _ CU – Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 54th convocation at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, on Tuesday as the chief guest. He delivered the convocation speech and presented major awards. In his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the IIT graduates to choose challenge over convenience and urged them to start working for the kind of India they want in the next 25 years.

During his visit to the IIT Kanpur campus in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi also did something out of syllabus. He made an impromptu visit to another building within the campus and met students who were not part of the convocation ceremony. He greeted them and interacted with them. In a video shared by the Office of the Prime Minister, PM Modi can be seen sharing a laugh with the students.

Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the event.

At the convocation, PM Modi said, “It is the responsibility of all of you to give direction to the country for the next 25 years, to give momentum to the country.” He said the country is standing on the threshold of “immense opportunities” and urged students to take up the responsibility of making use of them.

PM Modi also launched blockchain-based digital degrees at the ceremony. The students were issued digital degrees through an in-house blockchain-driven technology developed under the National Blockchain Project.
