Company Chairman RC Bhargava believes that if India and Japan worked together with complete partnership and trust in the manufacturing industry, they would be the greatest in the world. Maruti Suzuki has shown to be a successful Indo-Japanese collaboration.

Additionally, he told PTI in an interview that the expanding relationship between India and Japan will have a significant beneficial impact on the expansion of Indian manufacturing. “I think the India-Japan cooperation is growing stronger, as we’ve seen in Maruti Suzuki and other places, and more and more Japanese firms are getting interested in investing in India and working with Indian companies,” Bhargava said. “I think these sort of relationships between India and Japan is going to be a tremendous beneficial element for the expansion of Indian manufacturing,” he added, using the example of Escorts Kubota, where the latter has become a promoter in the Indian manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment. Bhargava pointed out that there is much to be learned about talents, best practices, and management systems from the Japanese partners.

On the other hand, he asserted that the government’s numerous reform initiatives are helping the global situation change in India’s favor. “When the world sees that India is changing and that the things that have kept us from being competitive in manufacturing are changing and people are looking at it, I think they will also see that India probably now will be the most competitive manufacturing destination in the world, or at least we can do a lot in large operations,” he said. He said, “Some tiny countries may be extremely good, but they lack our human resources.” So, he remarked, if the two nations strengthen their relationship, “This combination is, in my opinion, invincible. I don’t believe that anyone in the world, not even China, can outperform us if India and Japan work together in complete collaboration and trust.”
