19,000 students from 84 countries who enrolled with CTY. Above-grade-level testing is used by CTY to spot brilliant students from all over the world and to demonstrate a clear insight of their genuine academic skills. In Spring 2021, Peri took the Johns Hopkins Talent Search test while she was in Grade 5. Her score in both the verbal and quantitative segments equalized the 90th percentile of advanced Grade 8 skills.
Peri was selected for the CTY High Honors Awards by Johns Hopkins. She said that this inspired her to achieve more, and that doodling and reading J.R.R. Tolkien’s books might have helped her achieve. According to Johns Hopkins policy, granular data is not split down by age or race. Similarly, it is also up to the guardian to reveal the prodigy’s name. Awardees hail from all 50 states in the United States. However, CTY High Honors Awards were awarded to less than 20% of CTY Talent Search participants. Honorees were also eligible for CTY’s online and summer programs, which allowed brilliant students to connect with other bright children from across the world and establish a community of engaged learners.
Executive director of CTY, Virginia Roach, expressed delight over the success. In a statement, she said, “We are thrilled to celebrate these students. In a year that was anything but ordinary, their love of learning shined through, and we are excited to help cultivate their growth as scholars and citizens throughout high school, college, and beyond”. Annually, over 15,500 students register in CTY Online Program courses. According to the statement, CTY’s in-person Summer Programs for talented kids are also available at nearly 20 locations in the United States and Hong Kong.
