India (Commonwealth) _ Valeo, a global leader in mobility technology and electrification of mobility, has been selected by Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, to provide the electric powertrain for a specific range of their “Born Electric” passenger vehicle platform as well as an on-board charger combo for their electric utility vehicles. The overall order is close to one billion dollars, and it was previously included in the total number of orders for high voltage powertrain reported in Valeo’s third-quarter results.
Mahindra & Mahindra is realizing its aim of leading the electric mobility revolution in India with its new state-of-the-art “Born Electric” electric car. M&M will bring these real electric SUVs to market using three essential strategic pillars: brand, design, and technology.
Valeo is a global pioneer in powertrain electrification and provides solutions to suit the demands of all road users. Valeo will invest near the Mahindra facility in Pune, Maharashtra, to localize electric powertrain manufacture in India. It will feature the electric motor, inverter, and gearbox, as well as the integrated 3-in-1 bidirectional Combo power electronics, which will comprise the Onboard Charger (OBC), DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit (PDU).
