Wawanesa insurance contributes for flood relief

$150,000 funding to provide immediate help to the areas impacted by the extreme flood. According to the company, $100,000 will go to the Canadian Red Cross British Columbia Flood and Extreme Weather Appeal and $50,000 will go to a matching program available to insurance brokers, Wawanesa employees, and the general public.

Carol Jardine, President of Canadian Property & Casualty Operations of Wawanesa, spoke about the company’s decades of services. He said, “We’re working around the clock to help our B.C. customers get the support available to them through their insurance policies with us. Wawanesa has been insuring families, farms and businesses in Western Canada for 125 years and we know all too well the increasing toll of climate change and extreme weather on Canadians.”

Referring to the changing weather conditions, he said, “Canadians know communities in B.C. are suffering. That’s why, in addition to providing emergency funds directly, we’ll match donations, dollar for dollar, from insurance brokers, our employees and the public.” Wawanesa has set up a webpage where you may donate: https://wawanesa.benevity.org/community.

These emergency funding are part of Wawanesa’s commitment to help hundreds of community groups across Canada and the United States in 2021, which totals $4.2 million. Additionally, Wawanesa is also a member of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, which promotes insurance industry activities aimed at increasing awareness about extreme weather, climate change, and the need to build more resilient communities.
