What happens to Maruti’s dominance…

India (Common Wealth) _According to Automobile sources, Maruti Suzuki had great sales in July 2023, securing eight of the top 10 slots on the country’s best-selling car list.

According to auto industry data, the Maruti Suzuki Swift was the best-selling passenger vehicle in July 2023, with sales totaling 17,896 units. This figure is 2% more than the 17,539 units sold in July 2022.

Hyundai, India’s largest automaker, finished in second with 45,297 units sold in May 2023, an increase of 3,590 units over May 2022.  The company’s market share increased as well, rising from 14.56% in May 2022 to 15.16% in May 2023.

Tata Motors, which ranks third in India’s vehicle industry, recorded a year-on-year increase in retail sales of 41,824 units in May 2023, compared to 35,762 units sold in May 2022. The company’s electric lineup expanded.

Mahindra moves up to fourth place, boosting retail sales by 11,169 units from 21,459 units in May 2022 to 32,628 units in May 2023.  In terms of sales, the Mahindra Scorpio, Bolero, and XUV700 were the top models.

This year saw a significant fall in sales for Kia, Toyota, Skoda, and Honda, according to automobile market data conducted by reliable sources globally. Kia India’s retail sales fell from 17,355 units in May 2022 to 16,819 units in May 2023. Toyota’s retail sales in May 2023 were lower than the previous month. Skoda’s retail sales dropped from 7,657 to 6,553 units.  Honda Cars also recorded a 5,079-unit decrease in retail sales.

The top selling Maruti vehicles showcased how reliable in customers’ satisfaction and trcutful in all its manufacturing features. As per the top selling cars,  Baleno, another Maruti vehicle, sold 16,725 units in July 2023. According to the study, Baleno sales have fallen 7% from 17,960 units sold in the same period last year.

Maruti’s compact SUV, Vitara Brezza, has seen a 70% increase in sales, with 16,643 units sold in July 2023 compared to 9,709 units sold in July 2022. Maruti’s MPV Ertiga has also seen a 48% increase in sales, with 14,352 units sold in July 2022, up from 9,649 units sold in July 2022.

Hyundai’s mid-size SUV Creta ranked sixth in terms of sales in July 2023, with 14,602 units sold. Creta sales increased by 11% from 12,625 units in July 2022. Maruti Suzuki Dzire sales were sixth in July 2023, with 13,395 units sold, a 3% decrease from 13,747 units sold in July 2022.

The most recent crossover Fronx made a surprise appearance on the list of the top ten best-selling automobiles, selling 13,220 units in its first year on the market. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R remains popular among Indian automobile purchasers, with sales expected to hit 12,790 units in July 2023. However, sales have dropped 43% from 22,588 units sold in July 2022.

Tata’s Nexon, the second non-Maruti vehicle in the top ten list, finished ninth with 12,349 units sold in July 2023. This represented a 13% decrease from the 14,214 units sold in July 2022. Another Maruti Suzuki product, Eeco, sold 12,037 units in July 2023, an 8% decrease from the 13,048 units sold in July 2022.

Despite a year-on-year drop in market share from 41.64% to 39.65%, Maruti Suzuki led the list with 118,500 units sold in May 2023. Maruti Suzuki was the only business to sell 50,000 units in retail. Maruti Suzuki India Limited (previously Maruti Udyog Limited) is Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Indian subsidiary. As of September 2022, the business held a 42 percent market share in the Indian passenger car market. The company is well-known for producing high-quality, low-maintenance vehicles for the Indian market.
