SOUTH AFRICA (Commonwealth Union) – Since the birth of social media there has been an increase in cyber sexual activity. Men and women all come online only to be fooled by online profiles and then be subjected to harassment. It’s mostly women and children who fall in to the victim category of actually physical assault. Parents have tried by limiting screen time, going on parent mode, monitoring everything their child does online to keep their ids safe. However, nothing seems to be working.
Most often than not these criminals are caught and most of them don’t seem to survive prison according to media reports. This brings us to Thabo Bester who the media has dubbed the “FACEBOOK RAPIST”. Thabo was arrested earlier this year and found dead a few months later in his prison cell.
Now there are many theories on how he died but they cannot confirm anything since there has not been an official report as to who this happened. Investigations are still ongoing.
The body was found by the officers that worked in the prison facility under his mattress burned beyond recognition. There was a story that he had been slipped something put under the mattress then the mattress had been set on fire.
Almost 6 months have passed since his body was found yet no proper answer is given by the facility as to how this happened. Now many questions are being asked, including how could a fire start in an isolation cell? What was the cause of death? Whose body was found in the cell?
The public, along with the media, is in their right to question the police as they are not confirming anything. The media has stated that 6 months is more than enough time to at least identify if the body is actually who they say it is.
Thabo baster had raped multiple women under the guise of being a talent scout. He would tell them to come to his hotel room for some kind of audition where he would rape them and rob them while threatening to kill them using a knife. He was given life imprisonment in 2012.
