JAMAICA – There have been terrible natural disaster occurring all over the world but none more terrifying than the floods that have swept all over Jamaica. The floods itself have been rather forceful and strong as there has been torrential rain pours throughout the nights and sometimes even during the day.

There have been lives lost as rescuers keep trying their level best to make sure that they have the man power to save as many people possible. Whilst we applaud the men and women working tirelessly to save the lives, we also share the sorrow with the families that have lost loved ones.

It’s never easy to make calculated guesses when you know you are in a situation where it’s a do or die and most people have been rushing to stock up on food and water so that they nor their families will starve to death during the floods.

It was during one of these trios that the vehicle was swept away in the flood waters but the 71-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were rescued.

The family was travelling in a car that became inundated.

“Mi haffi swim and hold on pon one branch,” said the young woman.

She said everyone managed to get out of the vehicle before rushing waters caused it to overturn. The car then disappeared as well as the wife of the elderly man and a 12-year-old child.

Heavy rains have been lashing some parishes since morning.
