Come 28th October, you can do more than shop, dine and catch a movie at the new sports-themed attraction at Orchard Road.

With the opening of Trifecta, thrill seekers will soon be able to surf, ski and snowboard without leaving the popular shopping stretch at the venue. While Singapore may not have ski resorts and surf breaks, with the opening of sports-themed attraction, Trifecta, people will be able to skate, surf, ski and snowboard in the heart of Orchard Road in the first of its kind in Asia, which will operate from 7am to midnight daily.

The sports-themed attraction is located next to Somerset Skate Park, offering the latest technology in surf and snow simulators and aims to make snowboarding, skiing and surfing more accessible through a lineup of beginner and kid-friendly programmes.

Trifecta stated in a media release on Thursday, that board sport enthusiasts can attempt both winter and summer sports on the same day at the venue.      The space includes the world’s first hybrid skate bowl that has been designed for skateboarding and surfskating, which will be free for all to use.

Trifecta, a part of a larger Orchard Road rejuvenation plan, was announced at the Tourism Industry Conference organised by the Singapore Tourism Board in April 2022, as part of a $500 million injection of funds to kick-start the tourism sector after the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged the industry.

Surfers can experience 1.5m high waves, the deepest in Singapore while the snow arena boasts simulator machines powered by the first virtual reality (VR) ski simulator in Asia which can accommodate up to six riders at a time with speed simulation and directional movements that mimic the natural mountain terrain.

Home-grown adventure travel company The Ride Side, conceptualised and developed Trifecta which spans 4,609 sq m – or approximately the size of four Olympic swimming pools – in Somerset Road. Trifecta declined to disclose the project cost.

Those who just want to watch the various sports could do so for free, while those who wish to participate in the activities can purchase tickets and memberships.

Trifecta will offer a new dining concept called Butter, for those wondering how they can fuel up in between their adventure sports sessions, which is an exclusive collaboration with the popular Two Men Bagel House.

The 70-seater outlet offers all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner with menu items that include Two Men’s signature bagels, baked goods, pancakes and grain bowls.

Activities in the snow, surf and skate arenas are open only to those aged six and above. There are no age restrictions for other areas of the attraction and will be free for all to use, featuring the world’s first hybrid skate bowl designed by skaters from popular Balinese skate parks.

All participants will additionally have to undergo a safety induction programme with Trifecta’s first-aid trained instructors before classes begin.

Trifecta has teamed up with home-grown bagel joint Two Men Bagel House to set up Butter – a 70-seat eatery for dining options, which will have all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner menus with baked goods, grain bowls, coffee, desserts and beers.

The Ride Side’s flagship retail store within the venue will have custom ski and snowboard boot fitting services, equipment maintenance and demo boards that can be tested in the various arenas.
