(CommonwealthSealed Air® has introduced a cutting-edge, on-demand printing system designed to meet the growing demand for personalized and customized packaging in the e-commerce industry. The new Sealed Air® Brand AutoPrint system offers a highly flexible and efficient solution for logistics and fulfillment operators, enabling them to print customized branding and messaging directly onto protective packaging at the final stage of the packaging process. This innovative technology aims to address the unique challenges that brands and retailers face in today’s fast-paced market, where personalized customer experiences are crucial for driving engagement and sales.

Meeting the demand for personalized e-commerce packaging

As Alessandra Secchi, Executive Director of Digital Packaging Europe at Sealed Air®, points out, there has been a significant shift toward customization in e-commerce packaging. Brands and retailers are increasingly looking to engage consumers through personalized packaging, which not only adds a unique touch to the unboxing experience but also strengthens brand visibility. With trends such as social media unboxing videos gaining popularity, packaging has become a powerful marketing tool that can directly influence consumer perception and boost sales.

However, this growing demand for custom packaging presents logistical challenges for companies involved in the fulfillment process. Traditional methods often require the management of multiple pre-printed designs, the ordering of various packaging materials, and the storage of these printed boxes. These practices are not only space-consuming but can also lead to waste when excess boxes or labels go unused. To tackle these challenges, Sealed Air® has developed the AutoPrint system, which simplifies the process of printing personalized packaging by allowing customization to occur at the last stage of packaging.

Key features and benefits of AutoPrint

Sealed Air® Brand AutoPrint is an advanced digital print solution that seamlessly integrates into packaging lines. The system can print custom designs and information directly onto closed boxes, offering a significant advantage over traditional pre-printed packaging methods. By enabling on-demand printing, AutoPrint eliminates the need for storage space for pre-printed boxes and reduces the risk of waste associated with overstocked, unused packaging materials. The AutoPrint system features a full-color CMYK printer that automatically adjusts to the height of the box, ensuring optimal printing quality. This versatility allows AutoPrint to print on boxes up to a maximum height of 200 cm and a width of 14 cm. Side printing options are also available, with plans to expand the system’s printing width in the future, providing even greater customization capabilities. The system is compatible with both white and brown corrugated boxes, making it a flexible solution for a wide range of packaging needs.

Speed, efficiency, and customization.

One of the standout features of AutoPrint is its speed and efficiency. The system can print up to 15 boxes per minute, helping companies meet the demands of fast-paced e-commerce operations. Whether printing premium-quality graphics, text, or barcodes, AutoPrint offers operators the ability to quickly switch between different designs to accommodate varying customer needs. This flexibility ensures that logistics and fulfillment companies can easily manage customized packaging for a wide range of products while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Integration with Sealed Air® I-Pack System

Sealed Air® has designed AutoPrint to integrate seamlessly with its Brand I-Pack Automated Void Reduction Packaging system, creating a comprehensive solution for the e-commerce packaging process. The I-Pack system optimizes packaging by automatically adjusting box sizes to match the precise dimensions of the product for shipment. By calculating product dimensions in real time, the I-Pack system ensures that packaging is right-sized, reducing excess void space and improving overall packaging efficiency.
