India (Commonwealth Union)_ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 25 years at the helm of government, marking a milestone in India’s political history. From becoming Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2001, to leading the country as prime minister since 2014, Modi has remained at the centre of India’s governance for a quarter of a century. For his supporters, the journey represents a golden era of public service, development and national ambition, during which India has moved towards economic strength, stronger global influence and a more confident national identity. On Wednesday, Modi marked the milestone by offering prayers at the Shri Vinayaka Temple in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi. He prayed for the happiness, prosperity and good health of people across the country, referring to them as his family members. He also sought the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, and expressed hope that India would continue moving on the path of progress.

The Cabinet resolution pointed to a connection between Modi’s work in Gujarat and his policies at the national level. Initiatives such as SWAGAT, which enabled citizens to raise grievances directly, were later reflected in national programs such as PRAGATI. His supporters also point to renewable energy, digital governance, infrastructure development and efforts to promote India’s cultural heritage as major elements of his leadership. The 25-year milestone therefore stands as an important moment in Modi’s long political career.
