Saudi Arabia builds 23 new model schools in Yemen to promote education

Riyadh, Saudi (CU)_ Pioneering educational achievements have been accomplished by the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SPDRY) as it builds 23 new model schools in different Yemeni provinces which aims at promoting education in Yemen through its projects to support the infrastructure of the education sector in Yemen. The newly developed schools were furnished with latest specifications by the SPDRY, similar to educational institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The new model schools developed and furnished by the SPDRY are spread over 23 regions in the provinces of Al-Mahra, Socotra, Aden, Taiz, Hadramout, Marib and Hajjah, where the development specialists in the program selected their sites after assessing the needs of these areas. In order to ensure quality education for Yemeni children and make it available to everyone without any prejudice, SDPRY has developed these schools along modern lines.

To note, 198 development projects have been initiated by the SPDRY to support seven basic sectors in Yemen, namely health, energy, transport, water, education, agriculture and fisheries, improving the capacity of the government institutions and the adoption of best practices for development and reconstruction to contribute to the sustainability of development impacts. The other initiatives of SPDRY includes increase of productivity in agriculture and fishing, donation of fishing boats, medical equipment donation to Yemeni hospitals and construction of cardiology center to improve healthcare sector.
