Overseas companies making a ‘mockery’ of Australia’s investment rules

CANBERRA (CU)_In December 2019, the Australian Senate referred an inquiry to the Senate Economics References Committee regarding the foreign investment rules that have been in place in the country. Now, after nearly a year-long delay the inquiry’s report was released on Friday (27 August), which found that certain overseas companies are making a “mockery” of Australia’s regulations as they continue to fail to make good on the promises they make when obtaining regulatory approvals for their investments.
