Study finds excessive digital media usage incompatible with parenting

Canada (CU)_ The negative effects of social media have long been accounted for in the last decade and a new study conducted by the University of Waterloo has demonstrated that the negative effects of digital media consumption extend beyond teenagers but for adults as well.

Lead author of the study, Jasmine Zhang who is pursuing her Masters in clinical psychology performed a survey on 549 parents with a minimum of 2 children who were between 5 and 18 years old had to provide details on their digital use, mental health together with the functioning of their children and parenting.
