GLOBAL – it’s really timing if you think about it. With time everything changes and that is exactly what happens in the world of fashion. Before you know it, the season has changed a whole new season has arrived. With summer fading away so are summer fashions. There isa slow transition in to fall fashion which is what design houses have been focusing on for a few weeks now.
The thing about these trends is that they come and go very much like the weather and you have to be able to adapt. But we have made a few recommendations of what’s in and what’s not so that you have a little help when choosing your wardrobe for the season.
The first thing that has been up for change is hemlines. Now hemlines have fought this war for decades since the 1920 where it was the highest fashion to have your hemline touch the floor. We then see the hemline recede all the way mid-thigh in the 60s for a flirty trend. So, the question is doing the hemline make the cut in any length to the fall trend. The second trend is minimal to maximum. Gone are the days of pandemic dressing as glam is coming and its coming full force. 2022 has been and will be the year where the word extra will be tested to its absolute limit in the fashion world. This is because glam is coming back and she is coming in full force. So, this means you need to be ready for the fall and winter to be a glamourous one. For example, Perth eveningwear designer Natalie Rolt — typically synonymous with the “less is more” look — recently released a series of yellow-sequined designs for their Evening 2022/2023 collection, which they call a “modern interpretation of the quintessential”.
This fall is also the season for skin as sheer is making a comeback in a big way. This third trend has been making itself be known in the last few weeks where celebrities like Rihanna and Florence Pugh have just been rocking the sheer material all over. Sheer material has also been through it just like Hemlines. And it’s safe to say that the more you see this season the more fashionable who you see is considered to be.
