NIGERIA (Commonwealth Union) –It seems like the men we choose to uphold the law cannot be trusted to do that either. There has been pandemonium causes as The Police Service Commission (PSC) has gotten the conformation they needed to dismiss seven police officers of senior ranking under the cause of gross misconduct. Apart from the dismissal they had also obtained the conformation to reduce the rank of further 10 officers.

This verdict was given at the plenary meetings that was held earlier this week at the PSC headquarters. The dismissed officers have not been named and shamed by the PSC as well as the media. They are Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), a Superintendent of Police (SP) and five Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).

The PSC did not waste any time and went ahead and got their Public Relations team to release a statement to the press regarding this situation and that how it was done with public safety and interest in mind.

The public would have had a problem if the police officers involved had not dealt properly with this situation. The police have not had any kind of good news since of late and the actions taken here made it a whole lot easier for the public relations team to come up with something to show that the public need not worry about the people of authority and law.

The statement reads: “Ten senior police officers, including an Assistant Commissioner (ACP), a Chief Superintendent (CSP), a Superintendent (SP) and two Deputy Superintendents (DSPs), were given the punishment of severe reprimand. Five Assistant Superintendents (ASPs) were also awarded the punishment of severe reprimand. Thirteen officers received the punishment of reprimand; two are to receive letters of warning while four officers were exonerated.”
