UGANDA (Commonwealth Union) – There has been a crime wave in Uganda in the past couple of weeks and things are only getting much worse. Just earlier this week there was an unknown gunman who shot two police officers killing one and seriously injuring the other. The gunman killed the Officer in charge of the investigation with another low rank police constable. He also shot and injured another officer in the Busiika police post in the Luweero district.

Mr Richard Bwabye, the chairperson of the district security community, was deeply concerned with these acts of violence and investigated as to how this happened. His report claimed that the attack happened around 7.30pm at night.

The officers were named and identified as Inspector of Police Moses Wahaluka and the other victim has been identified as police constable Alex Ongolo. The third injured party did not die in the attack. He has survived and rushed to the hospital where he went into surgery and is now receiving medication. The third officer has been identified as police constable Stephan Andama.

The witness’ went on further to give evidence that the attacker not only shot the police officers but he also went as far as to set fire to police files and when running away he grabbed two more guns from the hurt officers.

The mayor of the Busiika Town Council made sure that the nearby shop owners closed up before there was open fire in the streets and more casualties were counted. The masked men then continued the shoot out and set more police property on fire.

The people around who came forward to give evidence clamed that there were about 8 masked men. The witnesses stated that whilst they saw police property being torched and burned, they cannot confirm that they saw if the masked men took anything with them.
