Canada (Commonwealth Union)_ In order to combat climate change and reduce emissions, as well as to create good, sustainable jobs and stimulate clean economic growth across the nation, the Government of Canada is committed to achieving a clean electricity grid through research, development, and deployment of clean technology and other enabling solutions. A $500,000 investment in Opus One Solutions from GE Digital was announced today by the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources Canada. Opus One also made a $645,000 contribution to the project, bringing the total cost of the project to $1.145 million.
Despite the fact that the project is now finished, the investments have aided in improving Opus One DERMS, which was created to offer utilities a more complete solution that can operate and optimize the growing variety and number of distributed energy resources (DERs) connecting to the grid. The innovative software offers real-time monitoring and the best possible dispatch integration of DERs to guarantee the grid is dependable, affordable, sustainable, and securing market revenues and value streams.
The Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson mentioned that, “By 2035, the Canadian government intends to have a net-zero electrical grid. Supporting Canadian businesses like Opus One, which with their cutting-edge software platform are addressing the difficulties of a 21st-century power system, advances both this ambitious aim and supports clean jobs and economic growth.”
The project, which receives funding from Natural Resources Canada’s Energy Innovation Program, accelerates the incorporation of clean energy technology into the electrical grid and markets in order to assist Canada achieve its climate change goals and create a low-emissions energy future. Investments are made in initiatives for research, development, and demonstration as well as in associated scientific pursuits to achieve this. On our journey to a net-zero power grid by 2035, the Government of Canada will continue to promote cutting-edge initiatives and technologies that support a robust economy.
