Canada _ (Commonwealth Union) _ Men are more likely to file their taxes using commercial software, according to a poll by the Canada Revenue Agency, while women are more likely to be concerned about filing problems and seek out professional assistance (CRA).

According to the study “Communicating With Youth About Taxes,” which Blacklock’s Reporter was able to obtain, “Women are more likely to believe that paying for programs and services for people living in Canada is a benefit of filing taxes, whereas men are more likely to believe that the benefit is adhering to the rules because everyone should pay taxes.”

A nationwide survey of 1,001 young Canadian tax payers between the ages of 18 and 24 served as the foundation for this study. The government organization paid Kantar for the service, Men were more likely to use retail software to file their taxes online and grumble about the absence of free tax guidance, according to the report, but women were “more likely to receive aid from an accountant or tax specialist.”

Women are more likely to be fearful of making mistakes, to have trouble interpreting information, and to be unaware of possible deductions and credits, the report stated. The fact that women are more interested in knowing about tax advantages, credits, and deductions is not unexpected.

The survey also discovered that there was a need for “greater awareness of tax arrangements inside Canada and how to file taxes” among young people.

Last March, the CRA introduced a self-guided online course for kids, newcomers, and those who have never filed their own taxes.

According to the Kantar survey, the average Canadian files their first tax return at age 18, but not without seeking help. 30 percent of the respondents utilized commercial software, 30 percent hired an accountant or tax preparer, and 25 percent sought advice from a relative.
