Canada _ (Commonwealth Union) _ A “swarming” attack on two TTC employees occurred on a bus in Scarborough on Monday afternoon, according to the police and the transport company. Toronto police are looking into the incident.
The bus was attacked, according to the police, south of Eglinton Avenue East, near Kennedy and Merrian roads. Around 3:35 p.m., officers were summoned to the bus and arrived there along with TTC special constables. Police said ten to fifteen young individuals attacked the uniformed workers, causing non-critical injuries. The assailants made off on foot from the scene.
On-site medical attention was given to the two workers. The bus driver, a third employee, reportedly suffered trauma as a result of the assault. An image of the suspects has not been made public by the police. In addition to the recent attacks against passengers, Green stated that the TTC is also worried about the weekend attack on a TTC employee and the latest attack on the employee.
Green replied, “We’re worried about all of these.” Although the TTC’s primary function is providing public transportation, we also find ourselves in the difficult situation of having to deal with a number of extremely complicated societal concerns. In order to provide its staff and customers a sense of safety and security, according to Green, the TTC is working. In addition to more streets-to-homes employees, the budget asks for more special constables this year.
It is obvious that there is a bigger issue at hand. There is a greater social issue at hand that is not the responsibility of the TTC, but you know, they’re demonstrating. Just before 6:30 o’clock in the evening, the transit worker was shot at from outside as she stood close to the intersection of Markham Road and Progress Avenue in Scarborough.
The suspects are identified as Caucasian guys, presumably adolescents, by the police. The swarming attack happened little over a month ago, when eight teenage females reportedly surrounded 59-year-old Ken Lee and battered and stabbed him in the vicinity of a downtown homeless shelter.
