India (Commonwealth Union)_ Numerous countries worldwide have made strides to facilitate travel for Indian passport holders, aiming to stimulate tourism and foster international relations. Among these initiatives, Sri Lanka recently declared visa-free entry for Indians and several other nationalities, including China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand. Concurrently, Thailand also announced the waiver of visa requirements for Indian and Taiwanese visitors, effective from November 10, allowing a 30-day visa-free stay until May 10, 2024.

The latest 2023 Passport Index by Henley and Partners reveals that Indian passport holders can visit 57 countries free of visa. This comprehensive list encompasses various travel facilitations such as visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, and Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). For those contemplating international travel during festive periods, here is a curated list of countries providing visa-free or visa-on-arrival facilities specifically for Indian passports.
Highlighting five captivating destinations with visa-free entry, the Cook Islands, nestled in the Pacific Ocean and under New Zealand’s governance, offer a 30-day stay without a visa requirement. Similarly, Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island renowned for its idyllic beaches, extends a 90-day visa-free stay to passport holders from over 100 nations, including India. Bhutan, in close proximity to India, does not mandate a visa for Indian visitors, particularly for brief stays lasting seven days or less. Hong Kong allows Indian passport holders a 14-day visa-free stay, showcasing a blend of natural allure and architectural wonders. Barbados, often dubbed the ‘Jewel of the Caribbean,’ welcomes Indian citizens for a 90-day visa-free period to relish its world-famous beaches.

Moreover, several other countries, including Fiji, Micronesia, Niue, Vanuatu, Oman, Qatar, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Kazakhstan, Macao (SAR China), Nepal, El Salvador, Gabon, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Senegal, and Tunisia, extend visa-free privileges to Indian passport holders, with Sri Lanka and Thailand offering visa-on-arrival facilities to Indian citizens, joining a roster of nations that have implemented similar measures.
Additionally, another set of five enthralling destinations offer visa-on-arrival arrangements. Seychelles, an East African archipelago, though visa-free, mandates a permit upon arrival from the Immigration Department for a 30-day stay. The Maldives, celebrated for its luxurious resorts and tropical climate, grants Indian passport holders a visa-free stay of up to 90 days for tourism purposes. Indonesia, renowned for heritage sites and expansive beaches, offers Indian travelers a visa-on-arrival for one month, extendable as needed. Samoa, known for its natural splendor in the Pacific, allows Indian visitors a 60-day visa on arrival, and Tanzania, an East African wildlife haven, provides a visa-on-arrival for a 90-day stay.
Further expanding on the visa-on-arrival category, countries such as the Marshall Islands, Palau Islands, Tuvalu, Iran, Jordan, St. Lucia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Bolivia, Burundi, Cape Verde Islands, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Togo, and Zimbabwe have arrangements for Indian visitors, broadening the spectrum of accessible destinations for Indian passport holders. These concerted efforts by various nations to ease travel restrictions demonstrate a growing trend towards fostering global mobility and facilitating cultural exchange, providing Indian citizens with an array of opportunities to explore and experience diverse parts of the world with greater ease.
