In a notable display of continuity and acknowledgment of his pivotal role in the remarkable growth of the world’s largest luxury brand, Louis Vuitton has officially extended the contract of Nicolas Ghesquière for an additional five years, as reported by WWD. This significant decision comes as Ghesquière commemorates his impressive decade-long tenure as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s women’s collections.

Expressing his joy and gratitude, Ghesquière affirmed the contract extension in an exclusive interview, stating, “I’m very happy, and also very honored for this trust. Of course, it’s very fulfilling to see the achievement of 10 years being transformed into a new chapter.” The renewal of his contract marks the second major decision under the leadership of Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO, Pietro Beccari, who, shortly after assuming his role in February, appointed U.S. musician and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams as the creative director for Vuitton’s menswear division.

Over the past decade as the Artistic Director of the Maison’s Women’s Collections, Ghesquière has consistently astonished the fashion world with his exceptional creativity and visionary spirit. His influence has been instrumental in reshaping the identity of Louis Vuitton’s Women’s Universe, evident in the Maison’s spectacular fashion shows held in Paris and various global locations.

Reflecting on the renewed collaboration, Ghesquière expressed, “It is a true honor to continue writing the story of Louis Vuitton. We began the first chapter ten years ago, defining a new identity based on extraordinary heritage and a constant focus on innovation. In particular, I have had the privilege to harness the talent and expertise of the Maison and its teams to develop new codes.” He conveyed his everlasting gratitude for the trust and support of Bernard Arnault and Pietro Beccari on this incredible journey.

Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO, expressed immense pride in collaborating with Ghesquière, hailing him as a true creative genius. He acknowledged Ghesquière’s pivotal role in redefining the Women’s Universe at Louis Vuitton, emphasizing the transformation of ready-to-wear silhouettes, iconic leather goods, shoes, and the staging of numerous extraordinary destination shows. Beccari eagerly looks forward to continuing to shape the future of Louis Vuitton together.

The contract extension not only underscores Ghesquière’s invaluable contributions to Louis Vuitton’s success but also positions him to guide the Maison into a new era of innovation, creativity, and continued growth.
