Europe, UK (Commonwealth Union) – A Welsh Animation Company that was responsible for a children’s series that calls for young audiences to draw their attention to nature and the world around them will be broadcasted on air on several UK TV channels.
Supported by the Welsh Government’s Creative Wales agency, Bumpybox’s new TV show, under the working title ‘Mini Buds’ / ‘Egin Bach’, will be available in both Welsh and English. The series also has the potential for international distribution, which will be a symbol of pride for Welsh animators.
The 26 five-minute episodes that include ‘Mini Buds’ / ‘Egin Bach’ will look into the big adventures of six tiny, budding explorers that move across the vast wilderness of a small back garden. Every story will draw its attention towards different aspects of the garden environment that consist of flowers and seeds, insects and other creatures, as well as elements like rain or sunshine.
The production of ‘Mini Buds’ / ‘Egin Bach’ expanded Bumpybox’s team from 4 to 12 members, ensuring job security for a year. The series’ success is anticipated to bolster the company’s sustainability and solidify its reputation as a distinguished production company.
The team is also eagerly anticipating the theatrical release of Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom,’ featuring Cillian Murphy and Sally Hawkins. Bumpybox who contributed to the production as an animation partner, offering their special skills in CGI, coloring, and compositing.
Sam Wright, who is the producer and director at the Cardiff-based Bumpybox, stated that they have been working on the production of ‘Mini Buds’ / ‘Egin Bach’ for a long time. It was actually initiated as an idea they had while still studying at the University of South Wales more than 13 years back. Ihe also indicated that it was amazing that with the help of Creative Wales, they will have the ability to finally bring this to audiences.
