UK (Commonwealth) _ Anthony Joshua, a fellow Brit who has won the IBF heavyweight belt twice, will face Daniel Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Due to Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to give up the title in order to face Tyson Fury again, the latter was crowned the official champion.

At today’s kickoff news conference, the bout between Joshua and Dubois was formally confirmed. On DAZN, you may watch the live broadcast.

In a boxing bout in March, Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) defeated Francis Ngannou, the former heavyweight champion of the UFC, via major knockout in the second round. Once again, the 34-year-old former unified champion of the WBA, WBO, and IBF aims to dominate in the division.

In June, Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) won the interim IBF title by stopping Filip Hrgovic in the second round. The 26-year-old has contested Usyk for the unified titles earlier in his career while holding the WBA title.

Oleksandr Usyk became the first heavyweight champion to hold four belts unchallenged when he fought British former WBC champion Tyson Fury in a split decision in May. On December 21, the two are anticipated to face battle in an instant rematch.

It is said that the IBF wanted Usyk to take on Dubois, who was required. The Ukrainian champion declared that the IBF belt was his “gift” for the September 21 fight between Anthony Joshua and David Dubois in a brand-new video that was uploaded on X.

Anthony Cacace (22-1, 8 KOs) of Belfast, Northern Ireland defends his IBF super featherweight championship against Josh Warrington (31-3-1, 8 KOs) of Leeds, England, in one of the bouts on the Joshua vs. Dubois undercard. Willy Hutchinson (18-1, 13 KOs) of Scotland and Joshua Buatsi (18-0, 13 KOs) of the UK via Ghana will square off for the vacant WBO light heavyweight title.

Josh Kelly (15-1-1, 8 KOs), a fellow Brit, will face former world champion Liam Smith (33-4-1, 20 KOs) at middleweight. At lightweight, an all-British fight takes place between Josh Padley (14-0, 4 KOs) and Mark Chamberlain (16-0, 12 KOs). In an all-British bout, Tyler Denny (19-2-3, 1 KOs) defends his European middleweight championship against Hamzah Sheeraz.

On September 21 at Wembley Stadium in England, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will formally compete for the IBF heavyweight championship, which Oleksandr Usyk relinquished to make room for them. At a news conference on Wednesday, the fight was declared.

Usyk said that he was giving up the championship because he wanted to fight Tyson Fury again instead of IBF mandatory challenger Dubois. The heavyweight king called this decision a “gift” for both Joshua and Dubois, and he brought up the September 21 date.

On June 1, Dubois defeated Filip Hrgovic and took the interim IBF championship. Hrgovic was the IBF mandatory going into the bout, and he anticipated the entire belt to be at stake But while they were still working things out, Usyk and the IBF made the temporary title for the fight. Following Usyk’s declaration, Dubois was crowned the IBF champion.

A historic Main card matchup between heavyweight champions Joshua and Dubois at the Riyadh Season Card is scheduled on September 21, 2024, at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Joshua, who remains one of the biggest names in the division, won four straight fights after suffering back-to-back defeats to Usyk. Joshua most recently defeated former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou via savage knockout. Joshua made a statement with the victory over Ngannou, as he has long sought a British megafight with Fury. Ngannou won the fight on a single knockout of Fury.

If Joshua defeats Dubois, he will become a three-time world champion and may be in line for the fight that he has long wanted—a blockbuster battle, regardless of whether Fury prevails in the Usyk rematch.

Daniel Dubois is a professional boxer from Britain who was born on September 6, 1997. Since June 2024, he has been the International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight champion. He has previously been the 2022–2023 World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight championship (Regular version) holder.

He has won several heavyweight titles at the regional level, including the British and Commonwealth titles in 2019 and 2020. He was a five-time national junior champion and British champion in his amateur days. As of right now, his knockout-to-win rate is 95%.
