India (Commonwealth Union)_ Surat industrialist and Rajya Sabha member Govind Dholakia has announced a unique gift for the Indian women’s cricket team after their historic World Cup triumph. The team lifted their first-ever Women’s World Cup trophy with a 52-run victory over South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. Accordingly, Dholakia, founder and chairman emeritus of Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK), said each player will receive a set of handcrafted diamond jewelry and rooftop solar panels for their historic victory. He described the gesture as a way to thank the cricketers for their inspiring performance and dedication.

In a letter written to BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla before the final, Dholakia expressed admiration for the team’s journey, calling it a story of brilliance, perseverance, and hope. “We at SRK would be honored to present every member of the champion Indian team with handcrafted diamond jewelry as a symbol of appreciation for their excellence and spirit,” he wrote. He also emphasized the importance of sustainability, explaining that the solar panels are meant to reflect the same light and energy the players have brought to the nation. “We wish to offer rooftop solar panels so the brightness they bring to India continues to illuminate their own homes,” his letter read.
Known for his philanthropy and environmental work, Dholakia said this gesture celebrates not only the team’s sporting success but also promotes a greener lifestyle. “These women have captured the hearts of millions with their courage and discipline,” he said, adding that true success should uplift both people and the planet. Dholakia, long recognized for supporting education, sustainability, and women’s empowerment, said this victory marks a turning point for Indian sports and will inspire a new generation of girls to dream big.

Meanwhile, on November 5, the victorious Indian team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, presenting him with a special jersey signed by all players that read ‘Namo 1.’ During Wednesday’s meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent time chatting with each member of the Indian women’s cricket team, celebrating their remarkable victory. Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur fondly reflected on their earlier visit to the Prime Minister’s residence in 2017, when they had come empty-handed after finishing as runners-up. PM Modi congratulated the team and listened to their stories from the memorable campaign.
