Aviation and Airlines (Commonwealth Union) _ Calgary-based airline Lynx Air has announced its plans to expand its services into the United States, offering nonstop flights to the popular Florida destination of Tampa International Airport (TPA) from two cities in Canada. The new service is set to commence on November 16, marking the airline’s continued growth in the North American market.

Lynx Air, which underwent a rebranding from Enerjet, aims to connect Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Montreal Pierre Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Tampa. The company’s ultimate goal is to offer a total of 66 services to Tampa, connecting the city with major Canadian hubs such as Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. Lynx Air’s CEO, Merren McArthur, expressed enthusiasm for the new routes, emphasizing Tampa Bay’s allure as a vibrant destination with beautiful beaches, entertainment options, and cultural experiences.

The expansion by Lynx Air provides passengers with affordable travel choices for exploring the United States. Joe Lopano, CEO of Tampa International Airport, welcomed the new routes and highlighted that Lynx Air is the first Canadian carrier to launch new services to TPA since the onset of the pandemic.

With a fleet of seven Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, Lynx Air currently operates at 17 destinations across North America, including five in the United States. The airline’s fleet expansion plans include a total of 50 new 737 MAX aircraft on order, with the aim of having ten operating aircraft by year-end and a fleet of 46 within the next four to five years. Lynx Air’s recent delivery of its seventh 737 MAX underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its North American network and providing affordable fares and a superior flying experience to more Canadian passengers.

In addition to Tampa, Lynx Air has already commenced operations to Las Vegas and Phoenix from Calgary International Airport, further strengthening its presence in the North American market.
