Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CU)_ The Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and the Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia) (DPMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the trade and investment links between the two nations.
During a conference held at the BMCCI conference room in the city, the MOU was signed by BMCCI President Syed Almas Kabir and DPMM President Dr. Haji Abd Halim Bin Husin on behalf of their respective organizations. In his address, Syed Almas Kabir expressed optimism over the agreement and stated that the deal between the two chambers will play a crucial role in strengthening the trade and investment ties between the two friendly countries.

According to him, Bangladesh and Malaysia established their diplomatic relations on 31 January 1972. Since then, the two nations have maintained strong bilateral commercial links. He noted that commerce between Bangladesh and Malaysia has increased in recent years. He also stated that BMCCI is always attempting to strengthen cooperation between BMCCI members and Malaysian business groups, which helps them to understand one another and enhance trade connections.
Dr. Haji Abd Halim bin Husin, vice president of the National Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), expressed optimism over Bangladesh’s overall trade and investment climate and stated that he hopes to strengthen the current ties between the two countries in the future. Abd Halim bin Husin and a business group traveled to Bangladesh to attend the D-8 Chambers of Commerce (D-8 CCI) meeting. The other delegates who attended the meeting were Vice President Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Joint Secretary General Rubaiyat Ahsan, and Directors Sifat Ahmed Chaudhuri and Md Mamunur Rahman.
