Big tax hit for Samsung’s Lee family

(CU)_The family of late Samsung Electronics chairman Lee Kun-hee revealed on Wednesday (28 April) that they will be paying one of the world’s largest inheritance tax bills, valued at over 12 trillion South Korean won ($10.78bn), for his estate. Lee, the man behind Samsung’s rise to tech titan, died in October last year, leaving behind an estate valued at about 26 trillion won.

His family said they will be paying the tax bill over five years, in six instalments, adding that “it is our civic duty and responsibility to pay all taxes”.
