This historical high not only solidifies Mundra Port’s position as a preeminent player in the Indian maritime landscape but also ascertains its status as the leading cargo-handling port in the country. Moreover, over the course of the entire year, this largest port in India has efficiently overseen a staggering 102 million metric tonnes of cargo, showcasing an impressive growth rate of 9% when compared to the preceding year, underscoring its unwavering commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in India’s trade and logistics sector. The Adani Group, in an official statement, has emphasized the remarkable growth trajectory of Mundra Port, which has exhibited substantial year-on-year expansion in container handling, liquid cargo, and gas shipments. A significant milestone in this upward trajectory is the port’s record-breaking achievement of handling 4.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers within just 203 days, surpassing the previous financial year’s performance. This accomplishment underscores Mundra Port’s relentless commitment to efficiency and its pivotal role in facilitating global trade and logistics, further solidifying its reputation as a leading and dynamic player in the maritime and cargo handling industry.

Mundra Port’s unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in its strategic diversification of cargo types, including the addition of Hydrolysis Pi Gas (HPG) to its extensive portfolio. In the year 2023, the port has impressively managed to handle over 2,480 vessels, showcasing its remarkable operational prowess. Furthermore, it has efficiently serviced a staggering 11,500 rakes, underscoring its versatility and ability to meet the diverse logistical needs of businesses and industries. These accomplishments not only highlight the port’s exceptional operational capabilities but also solidify its reputation as a key player in the global maritime and logistics industry. Mundra Port’s strategic location, combined with its deep draft capabilities, positions it as an ideal hub for handling large vessels. In a remarkable feat, the port berthed the MV MSC Hamburg in July 2023, one of the largest ships ever to visit Indian shores. The MV MSC Hamburg boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 399 meters in length and 54 meters in width, with a substantial carrying capacity of 15,908 TEUs. This accomplishment underscores Mundra Port’s capacity to accommodate enormous vessels.

In an additional highlight of Mundra Port’s prowess, the year 2021 witnessed the momentous arrival of the APL Raffles, a colossal container vessel that ranked as the largest to ever dock at an Indian port at that time. Measuring an astounding 397.88 meters in length and spanning 51 meters in width, the APL Raffles was a remarkable testament to Mundra Port’s capacity to handle massive maritime traffic. This milestone not only underscored the port’s commitment to pushing boundaries but also its significance as a pivotal gateway for international trade, reaffirming its position as a strategic hub for handling large-scale shipping operations in the region. Mundra Port benefits from robust connectivity with the hinterland, particularly through its linkage to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). Leveraging its continuous growth in cargo volume and its ability to efficiently manage various types of cargo, Mundra Port has set a lofty target for itself. The port is aspiring to handle a remarkable 200 million metric tonnes of cargo within the fiscal year 2025, a testament to its commitment to excellence and its role as a pivotal player in India’s maritime trade landscape.
