Global (Commonwealth Union) _Elon Musk has publicly retracted several harsh comments he had made on social media regarding President Donald Trump, stating that the criticisms he had made via social media posts may have gone “too far”.
Musk’s statement follows a public feud that broke out between Trump and the Tesla CEO, with several figures within the Trump Administration reportedly attempting to de-escalate the conflict.
The disagreement initially began shortly after Musk stepped down from his position as an advisor at the Department of Government Efficiency. The tech guru promptly launched a series of tweets that criticized Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill”—a tax and spending initiative—emphasizing the risk of increasing the federal deficit.
The tech mogul also brought forward the idea of impeachment, sparking controversy with a social media post that implied Trump’s involvement in the Epstein files, an allegation that garnered severe attention.
Trump responded to Musk’s accusations, warning him of the consequences his companies Tesla and SpaceX would face, standing to lose government contracts if he were to continue derailing the Republican Party.
According to a White House official, Musk reportedly spoke to the president on Monday night over the phone ahead of his public apology on Wednesday, where the billionaire posted a confessional message on X about his regrets.
Musk also deleted several argumentative posts he had posted, including the ones that called for President Trump’s impeachment and made allegations regarding the Epstein Files. However, he did maintain his stance on Trump’s tax and spending bill. Vice President JD Vance, Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Trump Adviser David Sacks, along with several other Republican senators, have allegedly contacted Musk, urging the former advisor to moderate his rhetoric so as not to conflict with their legislative goals.
However, the apology made by most seems to have eased tensions between the tech mogul and the President, with Trump acknowledging the gesture as very nice. The apology also allegedly revived investor confidence in Musk’s companies, with shares rebounding after a period of decline.
While the Trump-Musk relationship is not expected to return to its former camaraderie, Musk’s public apology signifies the possibility of the billionaire playing a role in ongoing debates, including those on border enforcement and domestic policy ahead of the upcoming congressional elections set to take place in 2026.
