Calls for a national strategy to restore manufacturing sector’s leading position

OTTAWA (CU)_Earlier this month, Statistics Canada revealed that the country’s manufacturing sector is experiencing a faster recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as sales in the industry in the month of June 2.1 per cent to $59.2-billion, particularly on the back of increased production of  auto assembly plants and higher sales of petroleum and coal products. Nevertheless, Canada’s largest trade and industry association claims that the sector is falling behind, in terms of investments, jobs and output.
