Calls to address recent rise in fatalities in South Africa’s mining sector

JOHANNESBURG (CU)_The main mining body of South Africa has called for a ‘MineSafe’ summit to be held urgently, in order to address the recent increase in safety concerns in the industry. The request was made to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, as well as labour and professional associations, to organise a summit after the local government elections, which opened on Monday (1 November).
