Canada’s manufacturing sales showed some signs of life

OTTAWA (CU)_In late July, RSM Canada published a report in which it asserted that the manufacturing sector could lead the Canadian economy out of the COVID-19 recession, as the industry reports a faster recovery from the global health crisis. According to the Toronto-based consultancy firm, the manufacturing sector is currently outperforming pre-pandemic levels, with sales in the industry surpassing figures reported prior to COVID-19. These findings have now been reaffirmed by the Canada’s national statistical office, which announced on Monday (16 August) that manufacturing sales in June escalated by 2.1 per cent to $59.2-billion, particularly on the back of increased production of  auto assembly plants and higher sales of petroleum and coal products.
