Ontario, Canada (CU)_ The COVID-19 vaccination has been mandated for employees, volunteers, learners, and contractors at Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and two additional children’s hospitals in Ontario. Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto and Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in Ottawa are the two hospitals that have joined SickKids.

As the majority of patients, at least 70%, are ineligible to be vaccinated, all three hospitals will go beyond the province’s order and compel anybody eligible to be vaccinated. At the moment, only individuals turning 12 by the end of 2021 and older are eligible for a shot. Officials indicated that those with verified medical or human rights exemptions will be excluded.

According to the provincial administration, people working in high-risk environments, such as hospitals, should be vaccinated or do regular testing. Other businesses, such as the City of Toronto and the TTC, have also issued similar orders requiring mandatory COVID-19 immunization, in addition to children’s hospitals.
