Chinese diplomat Wong Hee makes his way to Africa to up hold the tradition of “Africa First.” With this raging pandemic the Democratic Republic of Congo was grateful for the relief and aid provided by china to them. The Congo was not the only African country to receive some sort of good will from china, Nigeria too had meeting with china and made agreements over an elbow bum to bilaterally help the countries’ economies grow after the fall because of the pandemic.
Wong spoke to the Chinese media before his visit to the African Continent and said that china is doing its utmost best to “reign in the virus.” He also stated that china will work with any other country to help find a solution for the virus.
The Chinese president stated that they will prioritize developing and under developed countries in the African and Asian continents to get and distribute the vaccine one it has gotten approval from the relevant authorities.
It seems that this will be china’s way of compensating to the fact that they did not handle the outbreak of the virus well enough that it became a worldwide pandemic. China isn’t happy with the rest of the world calling this a vaccine diplomacy programmes china states they aren’t using the vaccine as a bargaining chip.
The Chinese vaccine unlike the other vaccines aren’t need of high maintenance like low degree coldness for it to be shipped making it easier for it to be shipped to other countries. Even though the efficacy of the Chinese vaccine is less than that of the Pfizer or the Moderna it is still higher than that of the Oxford.
Although vaccine diplomacy may seem like brilliant concept there is a need of complete transparency and efficacy china has yet to publish these details to the world. With these doubts even countries that are in need of the vaccine are grateful to china for getting the vaccines to them.
China is trying to help the nations that need help that may not be able afford it there by being the solution to the virus as opposed being the cause of it.
