SRINAGAR, India (CWBN)_ Indian media reports that a video of Chinese soldiers crossing the Indian border into Changthang village has been circulating among residents in the area over the past few days.

The report indicates that Chinese soldiers dressed in civilian clothes apparently objected to local nomads allowing their cattle to graze in the area, but were met with fierce opposition from the locals, who even reported the incident to the area’s border police. Changthang village is 135km east of Ladakh’s capital Leh.

Indian armed forces serving in the area have been unavailable for comment according to the report, and no other official statements seem to have been made regarding the incident.

The alleged interference comes just days after an agreement between India and China to resume peace talks with regards to the Indian region of Ladakh, which both countries claim to be their own. The area is hotly contested between India and China and has consistently been making the news in the past few months; military skirmishes this year marked the first casualties at the border in around 45 years. Although China kept to the decades old agreement to not use firepower in the region, they reportedly used iron rods with spikes in the deadly encounter responsible for the casualties.

The conflict has even reached the virtual sphere – Leh was mistakenly labelled part of China by Twitter, which led to the social media giant apologising to an outraged India. India’s ban of 220 apps, most of which are Chinese, has also been a major incident between the two nations.
