In a significant development at COP28, President Dr. Sultan Al Jaber held discussions with former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to emphasize the critical need for a robust outcome from the Global Stocktake for effective climate progress.

During the COP28 Presidency Press Conference, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber acknowledged the positive steps taken with the COP28 energy package but underscored that more substantial efforts were still required. He emphasized the urgency of collective action to address the climate crisis.

A special Action Summit, jointly hosted by the Arctic Circle, Emerson Collective, and Nia Tero, unfolded on December 4th at the renowned Museum of the Future in Dubai. Led by notable figures including Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, Laurene Jobs, Peter Seligmann, and Andy Kasner, the summit garnered the active participation of approximately 200 international leaders, entrepreneurs, and influencers from diverse sectors.

The summit deliberated on innovative approaches to address global challenges, with a primary focus on climate and clean energy initiatives. Trust-building and cooperation for sustained success were key themes. COP28 President Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, in collaboration with the organizers, facilitated extensive consultations involving representatives from science, public affairs, technology, business executives, indigenous communities, and influential youth.

The event concluded with a compelling address by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, providing a comprehensive overview of ongoing negotiations and highlighting significant achievements. The COP28 leadership’s commitment to inclusive consultations, engaging nations, youth, scientists, experts, and those capable of influencing global energy systems towards cleaner and sustainable sources received a standing ovation from the enthusiastic audience.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Hillary Clinton actively participated in discussions, joined by ministers, researchers, experts, and executives from major international companies such as Google, Exxon, and SINOPEC. Representatives from indigenous communities and small island states also contributed actively.

The Action Summit showcased progressive thinking and proposed strategies for trust-building and effective cooperation. Discussions spanned topics like the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and culminated in a historic agreement on the opening day of COP28. Key areas of focus included energy exchange, access to capital, innovation, technology, and carbon capture, with a vision for creating a new model for international cooperation.
