COVID-19 cases increase by 122 -NCDC

NIGERIA (CWBN)_ On Tuesday (December 01), the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), confirmed 122 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in the country. The news was made public via the main website and the agency’s Twitter account.

According to the public health agency, new infections were reported from 10 states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). In light of the newfound cases, the total number of patients in the country has jumped to 67,960.  The NCDC stated that there had been 1,177 deaths in the country due to the effects of the global pandemic. The agency also added that 63,839 patients had been cleared throughout the 36 states and FCT.

Since the first confirmed case on the COVID-19 pandemic was reported on 27th February 2020, Nigeria has screened 779,708 people so far.

In the past 24 hours, the NCDC has reported one new COVID-19 related death, adding that 409 had been discharged after being treated from various isolation centres throughout the nation.

According to the NCDC, Kaduna reported the highest number of cases at 37, followed by Lagos with 29, Plateau with 25 instances, Ekiti with nine, River and Ogun with five each, Edo and Kwara with four each, Bayelsa with two and finally Bauchi and Kano with one patient each.

The agency went on to say a national multi-sector emergency centre at Level 3 was activated and national response activities continued to be coordinated.
