CUSAT-UoR MoU: Academic Collaboration

Sri Lanka (Commonwealth)_Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and the University of Ruhuna (UoR) in Sri Lanka have joined hands in a promising academic venture, solidifying their partnership with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU, signed by CUSAT Vice Chancellor P.G. Sankaran and UoR Vice Chancellor Sujeewa Amarasena, encompasses various academic and research collaborations that aim to enhance knowledge exchange and foster development in key areas.

The agreement between CUSAT and UoR encompasses a wide range of fields, including fisheries, marine science and technology, marine engineering, and naval architecture. Recognizing the potential for growth and progress in these domains, both institutions have committed to strengthening their academic curriculum, research capabilities, and financial support. This collaboration holds great promise for students and researchers from both universities, opening up new avenues for exploration and discovery.

Playing a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating this momentous agreement were Gopal Baglay, the High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka, and Dipin P.R., Consulate General of India in Hambantota. Their efforts were instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of the MoU between the two universities, fostering a harmonious partnership built on mutual cooperation and shared objectives.

In a further display of their commitment to this partnership, the Vice Chancellor of CUSAT and the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences engaged in productive discussions with Sri Lankan Education Minister A.D. Susil Premajayantha. During these talks, they explored the proposed academic and research initiatives between the universities. Minister Premajayantha expressed his immense satisfaction with the collaboration and sought the support of the Indian High Commission and CUSAT to bolster the academic and research capabilities of UoR and the Ocean University of Sri Lanka.

This collaboration between CUSAT and UoR not only demonstrates the potential for academic and research advancements but also highlights the importance of international partnerships in driving progress in education and knowledge dissemination.
