India (Commonwealth) _Hero MotoCorp announced on Tuesday that bookings for the Harley-Davidson X440 will begin today, with deliveries expected to begin in October.

The 440-cc bike, which is manufactured by Hero MotoCorp at its Neemrana plant, can be reserved online for Rs 5,000. Customers can also reserve the Harley-Davidson X440 at all Harley-Davidson dealerships and select Hero MotoCorp shops around the country, according to the company.

The Harley-Davidson X440 marks Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson’s maiden entrance into the 440cc segment in India. Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson established a collaboration for the Indian market in October 2020. The agreement called for Hero MotoCorp to build and sell a line of premium bikes in the country under the Harley-Davidson brand name.

It is also in charge of Harley-Davidson motorcycle service and parts. It is also mandated to sell Harley-Davidson accessories and general items, as well as riding gear and clothes, through a network of brand-exclusive Harley-Davidson dealers and its existing sales network in the country.

The Harley-Davidson X440 is powered by a brand-new 440cc oil-cooled, long-stroke BSVI (OBD II) and E20-compliant engine developed by Hero MotoCorp. “The engine punches a best-in-class power output of 27 bhp as well as a best-in-class maximum torque of 38NM,” the company stated, adding that the motorcycle has an unusually flat torque curve, producing 90% of its peak torque as low as 2000rpm.

To provide precise control, the engine includes an assist and slipper clutch. The 6-speed transmission with optimum gearing allows for pleasant city commuting as well as motorway cruising, the company explained.
