USA (Commonwealth Union)_ Elon Musk, the visionary entrepreneur behind entities like X (formerly known as Twitter) and Tesla, extended his commendation to Indian-American US presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy, characterizing his candidacy as “promising.” Musk’s endorsement followed Ramaswamy’s appearance on a popular interview show with anchor Tucker Carlson. With the term “promising” echoing Musk’s sentiments, he shared the interview that referred to the 37-year-old Ramaswamy as the youngest Republican candidate vying for the US presidency.
Possessing an educational background from prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Yale, Ramaswamy is of Indian descent, his parents having immigrated from Kerala to the United States. This endorsement followed Musk’s visit to China, during which he met with Chinese officials, including the Foreign Minister, to discuss his business plans in the country. Musk’s remarks praising China’s dynamism had drawn criticism from Ramaswamy, who accused Chinese leaders of manipulating prominent US business figures to serve their interests. Amidst these geopolitical complexities, Musk found himself drawn into political conversations.
Vivek Ramaswamy stated, “It’s deeply concerning that Elon Musk met with China’s foreign minister yesterday to oppose decoupling and referred to the U.S. & Communist China as “conjoined twins.” Tesla’s VP in China reposted that statement on Weibo in China, but curiously not here in the US”. Earlier, Musk expressed support for Ron DeSantis, a contender who declared his presidential candidacy through a Twitter Spaces event, positioning himself against former President Donald Trump. Ramaswamy as well as Nikki Haley and Hirsh Vardhan Singh are the three prominent Indian-Americans competing against Donald Trump for the presidential nomination in January. Accordingly, Musk’s renewed endorsement of Ramaswamy clarifies his preference for the potential leader of the United States.
Additionally, Ramaswamy, at 38 years old, articulated his political and ideological stance in a series of ten bullet points on X, Musk’s platform. Among these, he asserted convictions such as the reality of God, the existence of two genders, the necessity of fossil fuels for human prosperity, and his view on border policies. Musk’s reiteration of Ramaswamy’s post emphasized the clarity with which the presidential aspirant communicates his beliefs.
While Ramaswamy’s fiery rhetoric has intensified the Republican primary race, he has established himself as a significant player, strategically aligning with the spirit of the “America First” agenda championed by Trump. He said, “I think I’m best positioned to advance our America First agenda, take it even further than Trump did, but also unite the country in the process”. Expressing ambitions to further this agenda and foster national unity, Ramaswamy has invested substantial personal resources to bolster his candidacy, positioning himself as a potential successor in the event that Trump’s legal entanglements disrupt his presumptive nomination.
