Ethiopia and Rwanda set to embark on New Cooperative Ties

Africa (Commonwealth Union) _ The 3rd Joint Ministerial Commission meeting between Rwanda and Ethiopia is currently underway in Addis Ababa, with the objective of strengthening bilateral ties and establishing new cooperation agreements across multiple sectors, as per officials.

According to a statement from the Rwandan Embassy in Ethiopia, the 3rd JMC between the two nations was inaugurated on Sunday, February 11, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, marking the commencement of a three-day meeting that commenced with expert sessions from both countries.

Focused on enhancing shared prosperity and leveraging cooperation, the discussions aim to deepen historical ties and foster transformative partnerships, the statement highlighted. The agenda includes a review of the implementation of resolutions from the 2nd JMC held in 2017 in Kigali, exploring additional areas of cooperation, and signing new agreements covering various fields such as trade, investment, agriculture, defense, education, and political and diplomatic cooperation, among others.

These agreements are anticipated to streamline regulatory frameworks, diminish trade barriers, and create opportunities for businesses to expand their presence in each other’s markets, according to the statement. Through the exchange of best practices and pooling of expertise, Rwanda and Ethiopia aim to reaffirm their commitment to building a prosperous future based on mutual cooperation, solidarity, and shared aspirations.

The heads of both delegations for the 3rd JMC have lauded the positive and vibrant relations between Rwanda and Ethiopia, reiterating their unwavering dedication to bolstering bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
